2006 EVENTS January 2006 On Friday, January 13th I conducted an ESP clinic at Ridgetop Junior High. This clinic was sponsored by Ted Brown Music, Sabian, Yamaha, Vic Firth, Remo and LP Percussion. On Friday and Saturday, January 20th and 21st I attended the NAMM show in Anaheim California. I met many great players, had meeting with company personel and saw some new great products. On Friday, January 27th I conducted a Drumset Clinic at Ted Brown Music from 7:30-9:00pm located at 10408 Silverdale Way NW, Suite 107 in Silverdale, Washington. On Saturday, Janauary 28th I performed with Doctor Funk at the Highway 99 Blues Club from 8:30-12:30 located at 1414 Alaskan Way, Seattle, WA 98101. Doctor Funk is one of the Northwest's premier horn bands. February 2006 On Thursday, February 9th, Ecstasy In Numbers performed at The Swiss Pub located at 1904 S. Jefferson Ave. in Tacoma, WA from 9:15-10:30. We had two other bands performing after us. Thanks to James Hannes for inviting us to open for his bands! On Saturday, February 11th I hosted my annual Drumset Recital for my private students at 3:00pm at Ted Brown Music in Tacoma, WA. Ecstasy In Numbers performed three selections at the end of the recital. Thanks to all my students who performed in this event. This clinic was sponsored by Ted Brown Music, Sabian, Yamaha, Vic Firth, Remo and LP Percussion. On Monday, May 29th, I recorded ten tracks for Dean Schmidt's upcoming solo CD. Dean Schmidt played bass on the Ecstasy In Numbers CD, Spellbound. The CD has some beautiful ballads, a Funk shuffle, Songo, Cha Cha, an ECM track and more. Stay tuned for the release date! June 2006 On Thursday, June 1st, I gave a Drumset Master Class from 7:00-8:30 at Ted Brown Music located at 6228 Tacoma Mall Blvd. in Tacoma, WA. This class was on tuning and setting up the drums. Students brought a Tom Tom, Floor Tom or Snare Drum and I will tuned it for them!. Students learned a lot about tuning!! On Friday, June 2nd, I recorded nine tracks for David Harsh's upcoming CD. David is an excellent Christian music singer/songwriter. I played with an "unplugged/coffee house" approach to the music. There is some great music on this CD. Stay tuned for the release date. On Saturday, June 3rd I performed at 7:00PM at the Beneroya's Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall with the Central Washington University Alumni Jazz Ensemble for the tribute and benefit concert to endow the John Moawad Jazz Scholarship Fund. This band was directed by Reuel Lubag. Also performing was the CWU Vocal Jazz 1 directed by Vijay Singh and the CWU Jazz Band 1 directed by Chris Bruya. The concert went well and it was great seeing so many old friends. July 2006 On Saturday, July 8th I performed with the Kevin Prouse Quartet at The Old Town Bistro located at 3388 NW Bryon St., Suite 100 in Silverdale, WA. Beginning On Wednesday, July 19th through Wednesday, August 16th, I taught Percussion at the Ted Brown Music Summer Band Camp. The camp was held at Ted Brown Music located at 6228 Tacoma Mall Blvd, Tacoma, WA 98409. This five week concert band program was geared toward students entering the 6th, 7th or 8th grade band next Fall. The fee was $89 before July 10th and $99.99 after. The final concert was be on Friday, August 18th at noon in the Wapato Park (72nd street near Ted Brown Music. For registration, contact Ted Brown Music at 800-562-8938. On Saturday, July 30th, I performed with the Bruce Babad Group (Bruce Babad-Saxophones, Paul Gabrielson-Bass, Nick Moore-Piano, Garey Williams-Drums) at the Jazz in the Valley festival Main Stage - Rotary Pavilion from 1:00-2:00PM and then again at the Moose Lodge from 8:30-11:30PM in Ellensburg, WA.
