Garey Williams - The Official Site

Garey's Equipment

I am a proud owner/endorser of the following: DW Drums and hardware, Sabian cymbals, Remo drumheads, LP Percussion Products and Vic Firth sticks & mallets. I also use Protechtor cases and HQ Percussion Reel Feel Practice Pads.

Garey's EIN kit

Drum Workshop Collector's Series Verticle Low Timbre Maple Shell Drums with Reinforcing Rings and the new Jazz Series Drums.

Finish: Natural to Burnt Toast Burst Lacquer Specialty over Super Quilted Maple Exotic with Chrome Hardware.

EIN Fusion Kit:
1. 8" x 7" Tom
2. 10" x 8" Tom
3. 13" x 10" Tom
4. 15" x 12" Tom
5. 18" x 16" Bass Drum (Jazz Series Shell)
6. 20" x 18" Bass Drum
7. 13" x 6" Snare Drum
8. 10" x 51/2" Solid Shell Snare Drum as a left Snare Drum/Timbale.

I use the right DW 9000 Double Pedal on the 20" Bass Drum. I also use a left DW 5000 Turbo double pedal on the 18" Bass Drum. I use an assortment of DW hardware including a 5000 Single Pedal for a left or right foot cow bell (located directly below my snare drum) and a 9000 remote cable hi-hat. This Cable Hi Hat pedal is placed to the right of my main 20" bass drum pedal. I can play double 20" bass drums, double 18" bass drums, right on 20" with my left on 18", right on 18" with my left on 20" and right or left foot hi hats. My right and/or left foot can straddle two pedals at once creating a variety of sound combinations with my feet. This has expanded my drumming a lot! I use the 20" bass drum for backbeat grooves and behind many of the guitar solos. I use the 18" bass drum for Jazz and ECM tunes and behind bass solos.
Do to the nature of our original instrumental music, I have many acoustic drum and cymbal sounds, as well as, striking implements to compliment the many electronic effects created and used by both the Guitarist, Mike Mattingly and 6 String Bassist, Rick White.

Thanks to Scott Cameron and Brandon Pierce for all your help with my DW drums!!

Remo Drum Heads

I use Clear and/or Coated Ambassador heads on top of the snare drums and toms with Clear Ambassador heads on bottom of the tom toms. I use Coated Ambassador heads on the batter and front sides of my bass drums. The front head on the 20" Bass Drum has a small hole off center. I muffle the 20" bass drum with the Adjustable Muffling System made by Remo. I muffle the 18" Bass Drum with a small piece of foam rubber placed between the pedal and batter head.

Thank you Bruce Jacoby for all your assistance with my drumheads!

LP Percussion

I use an LP Mambo cowbell mounted on the bass drum, an LP Hand Hammerd Brass Jingles Tambourine mounted to the left and a bass drum pedal operated Black Beauty Cowbell.

Vic Firth Sticks & Mallets

I use the American Custom 85A Wood Tip model, Peter Erskine Ride Stick and the International Series Tullio De Piscopo (STP) signature sticks. I use both the Jazz and Heritage brush in addition to Blades, Bams, Rutes and M4 Yarn Wound rattan handled mallets on drumset. I use the SD1 General and Bolero sticks for orchestral work. I also use a variety of Vic Firth keyboard mallets with both birch and rattan handles, as well as, timpani mallets.
